The zodiac dial is too short as well, plus it's bent and looks as if it might break when too much force is applied to it. There's nothing within this roomthat is long and sturdy enough to be of any use for Sol.

Having blocked the first set of bars with the spear, Sol will move down the stairs to the second set and study the holes where the bars can be seen. He pulls out a mundane dagger and tries sticking it into one of the holes with the blade between the bar and the side of the shaft hoping that he can wedge it between them and that friction will prevent the bars from falling should the trigger be released to cause the bars to fall. He realizes that this won't work if the holes in the ceiling where the bars are located are too large or if the bars are situated too high up in the holes...

Sol finds it impossible to wedge the dagger in there because the bars fit extremely well into the holes, leaving no place for the comparatively broad blade and tip of the dagger to fit in.

OOC: What about Gaderon and Eilkhan? Who will do the levitation trip?

Sol mumbles "Oh well, what else can I try?" He goes back up stairs and looks at the pieces of the fallen statue. He wants to find a long piece of leg or arm that he thinks can stand on end. Failing that he would take a large piece that will leave enough space on the staircase to get past. If he finds an appropriate piece he will drag or roll it down and place it against the wall under the second set of adamanite bars, hoping that it will block the bars from falling should the trap be triggered.

There are enough broken pieces of the statue that should do the job, and with the help of one or two of his fellows Sol manages it to place several of them beneath the three rows of bars. In case they stop the presumed fall of the bars, there now should be enough room left for someone without armor or small enough to wriggle through to the other side.

Eilkhan accepts the boots from Gaderon. "Ok, thanks."

Donning them, she begins levitating to the ceiling then begins moving forward inch by inch with her hands, observing as much as she can. She will do this to the other side then repeat the process coming back a few feet over etc until the whole room has been inspected.

Levitating along the ceiling works very well, and Eilkhan is soon able to look around the corner.

She sees a 70-foot-long hallway, 20 feet wide and high. The whole ceiling is made of a blue-violet stone that appears as if it were a cloudless night sky, for full moon and myriad stars not only appear on the surface, but even produce illumination identical to the real things. Yet the light is unusually radiant, so that she is able to detect colors.

Household furnishings dominate most of the area - the sort of things a wealthy noble might possess. Included are two big beds, couches, tables, chairs, chests and so forth; a desk, several workbenches; paraphernalia and apparatus of ecclesiastical, magical, and alchemical sort; cases and shelves packed with reading material, and containers that undoubtedly hold material for spells and experiments; crates, ceramic jugs, and jars, weapons and antique armor, normal clothing, and ceremonial garb. An incredible, mond-boggling array!

The whitewashed walls show extensive inscriptions of religious and possibly magical sorts, with pictures and small glyphs indicating voluminous narration and pronouncements. Oddly, there is no disernible focus of evil nature.

There are three stone doors along each wall, and one on the far end of the room. Flanking each door to the left and right are pairs of man-sized statues. These depict people who are probably ancient slave-warriors, clad in leather armor with horn and metal trimmings. One of each pair is armed with a big club and a tall wooden bow, the other has a club, spear, and tower shield. All the statues are painted and adorned with real feathers, appearing most lifelike.

Once Eilkhan is done, she returns to the entrance. SHe will relate to Sol what she found.

OOC: Sir C did Eilkhan find the trigger for the trap?

Post subject:  Re: Statue of Rahotep

There's no trigger near the ceiling, plus Eilkhan also couldn't see anything within the hall that looked like a lever or something that might activate or deactivate the trap. But then the whole place is very cluttered and unclear with hundreds of places where something might be hidden.

Using Gaderon's boots to avoid the pressure plate works just fine, and after a while all of you have climbed the stairs and returned to the hall with the shattered statue and zodiac wheel.
