Love the inclusion of Pippin's Song in this teaser. :)

Fantastic! I hadn't seen that the teaser was out, but I watched it and now can't wait for December! :D

The second hobbit movie was such an awful disappointment, especially all the crap Jackson added after the escape from Mirkwood, with the impossible city of Lake er "town", laughable lines like "enemies of the state", breaking up the dwarves, and the ho hum hour long car, er dragon chase in the mountain. I think I'll pass.

I think the main problem with the Hobbit movies is that the story gets kind of lost between all the CGI.
LotR, I have rewatched perhaps 30-or-so times. The Hobbit I and II, not really that many times, because the visuals are great,
but the story is often too cartoonished, and, mind the length of the movie, too rushed.
Especially in the second movie, PJ has problems with his techniques of dramatic exposition (generally, a flaw in his storytelling).

That said, while LotR was a VERY GOOD movie series, the Hobbits is still a GOOD movie series,
especially when compared to the other blockbuster fantasy movies of recent history. ("Thinks of Matrix Reloaded, makes sign of protection.*)

The third one, I look forward to. - But frankly, I am too old to care about cinema, or DVD. Either way will be fine. :)

The Hobbit I: An Unexpected Journey
There were a few parts I didnt like about this film, but I really liked the story of how Bilbo meets the dwarves, gradually gets accepted by them and begins to understand their need for a home.

The Hobbit II: The Desolation of Smaug
Story-wise I agree that this one has the typical problem of many middle part movies of mainly being about how people get from A to B. However I found this film extremely entertaining, both in terms of excitement and some truly funny scenes. Much of this film is setup for things to come in part 3 so I will reserve my judgement on that untill I have watched this one.

The Hobbit III: The Battle of the Five Armies
I am super excited and this teaser really makes me wish it was December already :)

Double post much? :)

Now, don't get me wrong, as I said before, the movies are still pretty good. I take them over about 95% of the usual blockbuster, any day.
I liked Fellowship best, though, the same way that, whatever, I watched Casino Royale more often than, say, Skyfall.

I think one of the flaws of the Hobbit movies is simply, the script is overloaded; toning it down would have done the movies much good. But then again, I rationalize that this is a movie for 13-year-olds. And from my little stint as a teacher, I can tell, "Beorn should have had more exposition, and we didn't need four 3D races throughout the movie" said NO 13-year-old ever. :)
