Given the shelter from the spur of land to the north of Maus, and the channels/islands just off the eastern shore, I'm surprised that the city doesn't have anything like a shipyard.

I don't see any docks, but maybe that's just a scale thing. Also, I'd rotate the Merchant's District a bit counter-clockwise, to move it closer to the High Market -- it just seems that merchants' headquaters, guildhalls, etc. would be a bit closer to the marketplace.

"Plunk, plunk" go my two coppers. :)

I thought this was an ancient cityport and a trading station, so I'd expect a very sheltered port (when it was an outpost, I'm sure they choose a suitable place) with warehouses close to the docks.
Probably the port is right inside the city, with about everything else built around it...
You may want to have a quick familiarization trip to Bergen, not too far from you, as far as I know...

They were on hills few km away from the port, so the port was another town alltogether (Pyraeus for Athens and Ostia for Rome), with two different circles of walls (that actually at some point in history were connected with the long walls of Athens, protecting the connecting road...).

Yeah, you are right, it is a pretty different setup than I have for Maus.

I didn't know about the city walls of Athens extending to Pyraeus btw. Nice detail :)

Looks like I need to add a few to this map.
