Quote:Hello!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so Our Moderators should feel free to move this announcement as needed...

The second annual David L. Arneson Memorial Maritime Mayhem Miniatures
event will be held at The Source Comics and Games on Saturday, April
10th, 2010 at noon.

Dave's infamous Tekumel character, the rascally Captain Harchar, will
feature in two epic sea fights: "Captain Harchar versus the Hlyss nest-
ship", in which the captain tries to keep his crew and passengers from
becoming living incubators for the larvae of these insectoid non-
humans; and "Captain Harchar versus the Customs Officials", in which
the captain tries to get his cargo of unlicensed, untaxed, and
undeclared luxury good past an armada of enraged customs and excise
officials while dealing with his piratical associates in the Clan of
the Blazoned Sail.

No experience needed; rules and miniatures will be provided. No fixed
times for players to participate; drop in and out as you want. For more information, please feel free to e-mail me: chirine@aethervox.net

Thanks!

yours, Chirine

The above was posted earlier today on Dragonsfoot. Does anyone here have more details?

We should definitely invite her here. Smile

Agreed. I think Chirine is a pseudonym for Jeff Berry, so it would be him, not her. Smile

That's awesome!

Despite being the organizer of the Second Annual Dave Arneson Gameday in NYC, I had no idea there's another one in Minnesota. (And despite having posted here about getting the staircases right so I could run the Blackmoor Dungeon at that event, it never occured to me to post here about it...)

What would you folks like to know?

The game group asked me to run a game with ships last year, as we had a game session several days after Dave passed away; we thought that it might be nice to continue doing a maritime game in honor of Dave's interest in naval warfare (we still have a copy of "Don't Give Up The Ship") and his long and illustrious career as that rapscallion of the seas, Captain Harchar in Prof. Barker's Tekumel adventures. I did the designs for Dave's Tekumel ships, as well as all of the miniatures of himself and his crew of cutthroats, slavers, thieves, historical miniatures players, smugglers, pirates, and sundry other such ne'er do wells; Dave played with gusto and real brio, and provided all of us with many hours of entertainment.

I'd love to do something similar for next year's Arneson gameday in NYC but I lack both Tekumel and naval miniatures. Any suggestions?

Maybe next year you guys could coordinate things so that everything takes place on the same day? Or maybe it doesnt matter so much, just an idea. I think it is great that so many get the chance to pay their respect to Dave Smile
